prefer, the e-liquid you use and how much maintenance you are
comfortable doing.
Refillable Pod Systems
Refillable pod systems are generally compact and simple
to operate. Depending on the model, the entire pod or only
the coil may need to be replaced.
Vape Pens
Vape pens usually offer a straightforward design with a
refillable tank or pod. Always check which replacement
coil or pod fits the exact device model.
Adjustable Devices
Devices with adjustable wattage provide more control but
require a compatible tank, coil and power setting. Begin
within the wattage range printed on the coil.
Check E-Liquid Compatibility
Thicker high-VG vape juice typically needs a coil that can
wick thicker liquid. Nicotine-salt pod juice should only
be used with an appropriate low-powered refillable pod
system.
Before buying: Check the exact device name,
replacement pod or coil model, recommended power range and
compatible e-liquid type. Similar-looking parts are not always
interchangeable.
How to Replace a Coil or Pod
Instructions vary by device, so consult the manufacturer’s manual
when available. These general steps apply to many refillable
systems.

Confirm Compatibility
Match the replacement coil or pod to the exact device
model. Do not force a part that does not fit securely.

Remove the Old Part
Turn off the device when possible. Remove the pod, tank or
coil carefully and wipe away any liquid around the
connection area.

Install and Fill
Insert the new coil or pod firmly without overtightening.
Fill through the correct opening and close the fill plug
or cap completely.

Let the Coil Saturate
Allow the filled pod or tank to sit for approximately
5–10 minutes before use so the wick can absorb the
e-liquid.
Begin at the lower end of the coil’s recommended wattage range
when using an adjustable device. Using excessive power can damage
the coil and cause a burnt taste.
Common Vape Problems
Burnt Taste
A burnt taste may be caused by an old coil, insufficient
saturation, excessive wattage or a liquid that is too
thick for the coil. Stop using the device and inspect the
coil before continuing.
Leaking
Check for a loose coil, open fill plug, damaged seal,
cracked pod or overfilled tank. Keep the device upright
and clean excess liquid from the connections.
Gurgling or Spitback
Gurgling may mean excess liquid has entered the coil or
airflow path. Remove the pod or tank and carefully clean
visible liquid according to the manufacturer’s directions.
Weak Flavor or Vapor
Check the battery charge, airflow, power setting and coil
condition. A worn coil or blocked airflow can reduce both
flavor and vapor production.
Device Will Not Fire
Make sure the device is charged and turned on. Check that
the pod or tank is installed correctly and that the
connection points are clean and dry.
Pod Is Not Recognized
Remove and reinstall the pod, confirm compatibility and
clean the contact points. Replace a damaged pod or coil
rather than forcing it into the device.
Basic Vape Maintenance
Regular care can prevent many common problems and help you notice
damage before it becomes worse.
- Turn the device off before cleaning or replacing parts.
- Wipe the pod, tank and connection area with a clean, dry cloth.
- Keep charging ports free from liquid, dust and debris.
- Do not submerge the battery or device body in water.
- Keep the fill plug or tank cap securely closed.

When Should You Replace a Coil or Pod?
Signs a Coil May Need Replacing
Persistent burnt taste, weak flavor, reduced vapor,
repeated gurgling or dark buildup around the coil may
indicate that the coil has reached the end of its useful
life.
Signs a Pod May Need Replacing
Replace a pod if it is cracked, damaged, leaking around
the plastic or no longer connects securely. Pods with
built-in coils should also be replaced when the coil is
worn.
How Long Do Coils Last?
There is no single replacement schedule. Coil life varies
with usage, wattage, e-liquid ingredients, sweetness and
how well the coil remains saturated.
When to Stop Using a Device
Stop using a device that is damaged, leaking internally,
swelling, overheating or activating unexpectedly. Do not
attempt to repair a damaged battery yourself.

Why does my new coil taste burnt?
The wick may not have absorbed enough e-liquid before
use, or the wattage may be too high. Stop using it, check
the liquid level and confirm that the power setting is
within the range printed on the coil.
Why is my vape leaking after I fill it?
Check whether the pod or tank was overfilled, the fill
plug is open, the coil is loose or a seal is damaged.
Also confirm that the correct coil and e-liquid type are
being used.
Can every coil fit every vape device?
No. Coils and pods are made for specific device families
and models. Match the name and model carefully before
purchasing a replacement.
How long should I wait after filling a new coil?
Allow approximately 5–10 minutes for the wick to absorb
the e-liquid. Thicker liquid may require additional time.
Follow the device manufacturer’s instructions when they
provide a specific wait time.
Why does my vape say no atomizer or check atomizer?
The device may not be detecting the coil. Check that the
coil is compatible and installed correctly, then clean
and dry the connection points. Replace a damaged coil or
pod if the warning continues.
Can I clean and reuse a burnt coil?
Cleaning usually cannot restore a coil with a damaged or
burnt wick. Replacing the coil is generally the better
option when burnt taste continues.
